Sol:- amount of base can be determined by simple acid base titration.
Amount of alkali can be determined by acid base titration. i.e., titrating of a solution of soap with standard hydrochloric acid using phenolphthalein as indicator. source of this access alkali is left unused when the soap is prepared by hydrolysis of oils.
